For all events, guests with special needs should proceed directly to
the main glass doors and ask for the event House Manager. Guests for
whom standing in line would be an undue hardship will be admitted to
the lobby as soon as possible. Accommodations are also available for
guests with visual or hearing impairment. For additional
accessibility information or to make specific arrangements, please
call 626-395-4688 (voice) or 626-395-3700 (TDD), or send email to ada@caltech.edu.
Lectures in the Watson and Voices of Vision series and almost
all other public lectures presented on campus are free, with
no tickets or reservations required. For most lectures in Beckman Auditorium, a limited
number of guaranteed-seating tickets are available to members of the
"Caltech family:" Caltech students, alumni, and faculty; staff and
retirees of both Caltech and JPL; and members of the donor groups The Caltech Associates and
The Friends of Beckman
Auditorium.
For each lecture, two admission lines form in front of the
auditorium: one for guests with tickets, and one for guests without
tickets.
There is no standing room in either Beckman or Ramo Auditorium.
Events which require a ticket for admission, but without a specific
seat indicated on the ticket, are general admission events. For these
events, two admission lines should form in front of the auditorium.
Guests should join the shortest line. The doors will usually open for
seating half an hour before the start of the event.
Note that for some general admission events, seats may be reserved
for guests
with special needs. Occasionally, a larger section of seats in
the auditorium will be reserved, typically for a large group
attending.
All guests, regardless of age, must have their own tickets for those events requiring tickets.
There is no standing room in either Beckman or Ramo Auditorium.
Events which require a ticket for admission, with a specific seat
indicated on the ticket, are reserved seating events. For these
events, because guests seats are assigned, frequently admission lines
do not form. If there are lines for admission, guests should join the
shortest line. The doors will usually open for seating half an hour
before the start of the event.
