In addition to the Coleman-Saunderson prize in 1986, the Cavani String Quartet has won prizes in the Naumberg, Fischoff, Banff International, and Cleveland Quartet Competitions. "This quartet succeeds like few others in communicating the fun of music-making and the sheer joy of balanced timbres and weaving sound." (Washington Post). For this performance the quartet is joined by the brilliant young cellist Alisa Weilerstein, recipient in 2000 of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, for a Schubertiade exploring the musical life of this lyrical composer.
