"Pound for pound, note for note, chamber music can
offer more intensity, intimacy, inspiration, and involvement
than any other musical style. And few groups
performing the repertoire can hope to match the
St. Lawrence String Quartet in any of those categories"
(Marc Shulgold for the Rocky Mountain News).
Composer Osvaldo Golijov has enjoyed a long and
fruitful relationship with the quartet, and with Todd
Palmer. Palmer was named editor-in-chief for publication
of Dreams and Prayers, a piece inspired by the great
kabbalist rabbi of Provence some eight centuries ago;
of his performance of the work Golijov said "Todd's
interpretation was noble and glowed like liquid gold."
Program:
- Beethoven: Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 127
- Golijov: The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind
