“First rate...inspiring”
The New York Times

Through dance and song, the Children of Uganda's exuberant and powerful programs tell the stories and history, the legends and beliefs of East Africa. Wearing colorful traditional dress, these young performers represent the abundant vitality of East African performing arts: songs of joy and sorrow; courtship, harvest and war dances; and accompaniment on thumb piano, xylophone, fiddle, panpipe and an array of drums.

Serving as goodwill ambassadors representing the 1.7 million orphans in their homeland, the Children of Uganda has been touring the United States biennially since 1996 to promote awareness of the still-growing AIDS crisis in Uganda and throughout Africa. Ranging in age from 8 to 18, the performers in the 20-member Children of Uganda have all been orphaned by AIDS.

This is a Family Nights Out event.
