A Conversation with Author Jeff VanderMeer
Jeff VanderMeer,

Called "the weird Thoreau" by The New Yorker, Jeff VanderMeer has reshaped contemporary environmental fiction with the strange ecologies and uncanny terrain of his Southern Reach series and Borne novels. His latest work, Absolution (part four of the Southern Reach series), is a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. VanderMeer has also written environmental nonfiction for Time, The Nation, the Los Angeles Times, Esquire, and other publications. Join us for an evening in which he will discuss his fiction, his environmental activism, and how powerful storytelling can challenge the way we think about wilderness, biotechnology, and the world beyond the human.

This event is supported by a gift from the late Caltech trustee James F. Rothenberg to support seminars in honor of his wife, Anne Rothenberg.
