Former Senator/Astronaut Harrison Schmitt to Speak

Please join us in Cahill's Hameetman Auditorium on Tuesday, August 4 at 2:00 PM to hear Caltech grad Harrison Schmitt (BS '57), a former US Senator and one of the last two humans to step on the moon as he presents a talk about lunar geology and his experiences on the moon. He was the only non-military astronaut to visit the moon and was specifically sought out due to his being an experienced field geologist. He served as the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 17 and explored the valley of Taurus-Littrow. For over 53 years, researchers have been studying the samples he and his colleagues brought back from the moon. The studies are leading to considerations about harvesting He and other materials in the not too distant future. Admission is free and seating is limited. Registration is highly recommended.
