All you need to know for your Science Journeys visit
The Program
Science Journeys field trips last approximately one hour and consist of a presentation by a Caltech graduate student or postdoctoral scholar and a Q&A with the audience.
Students and guests are encouraged to come prepared to ask questions!
Videography and Photography
Each presentation is recorded and will be released on Caltech's YouTube channel at a later date. In addition, Caltech staff may photograph events. If any member of your group is concerned about appearing in a video or photo, please contact Mary Herrera ahead of time at mhh@caltech.edu.
Transportation
Arriving By Bus?
- Please share this information with your bus company/driver:
- Drop off on west side of Holliston Avenue, south of Del Mar Boulevard.
- Buses can then park on the West side of Hill Avenue between Del Mar Boulevard and San Pasqual Street.
- After the presentation, teachers and students will meet buses on Hill Avenue.
Arriving By Car?
- Cars can park in the South Wilson Parking Structure at 405 S. Wilson Ave or the North Wilson Parking Structure at 341 S. Wilson Ave.
- In the event those structures are full, guests may use the California Parking Structure located South of California Boulevard. Two-hour street parking is also available around campus.
- Registrants will receive a parking pass via email in advance of the event.
If you forget your parking pass, please see a Caltech team member at Beckman Auditorium. - Carpool spaces are reserved for Caltech carpools with permit only.
- Please do not park in named/reserved spaces. (Numbered spaces are OK.)
The program takes place in Beckman Auditorium.
Seating
Please be aware that there is assigned seating for this event, not first-come, first-served.
Accommodations
If you have someone attending who has special needs, please contact Mary Herrera at mhh@caltech.edu.
Restrooms
- Restrooms are available in Beckman auditorium and will close 1 hour after the event.
- Please do not wander into buildings; in many cases, noise and vibration can disrupt on-going research.
Cancellations
If you or your group's plans have changed, please let us know so that we may open your seats to others in the event of a waiting list. Email Mary Herrera at mhh@caltech.edu to cancel your registration.
