Ramo Auditorium
- Public Event
Ranganiketan will also be performing in three free concerts in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 6th at the Amphitheatre at Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of the Music Center Education Division's World City Series [INFO].
The Manipuri cultural arts troupe Ranganiketan, whose name literally means "House of Colorful Arts," is a diverse group of about twenty dancers, musicians, singers, martial artists, choreographers and craft artisans. All highly accomplished members of Manipur's artistic community, some of them are gurus (teachers) in their own respective fields of art.
Located on India's eastern border with Myanmar (Burma), Manipur is a small, isolated, oval-shaped Indian state ringed by nine ranges of Himalayan mountains. It is a treasure chest of art and beauty: Art in Manipur is considered a regular part of daily life from childhood to old age, and it is said that in Manipur everyone is born an artist.
