Academy of St Martin in the Fields Wind Ensemble

Sunday, April 16, 2023
3:30pm to 5:30pm
Add to Cal
Beckman Auditorium
  • Public Event

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world's premier chamber orchestras, known for its fresh, brilliant interpretations. The wind ensemble is a specially created group composed of principal players of the orchestra.

Pianist and conductor Simon Crawford-Phillips joins these artists to make music that the Washington Post called "luminous, often breathtaking."

Sharing these experiences with audiences is what the Milwaukee Sentinel wonderfully described as "good reason to turn off the stereo and go to a real live concert."

PROGRAM

  • Poulenc – Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano, FP 43
  • Brahms – Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 120, No. 2
  • Schulhoff – Divertissement for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon
  • Beethoven – Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major, Op. 16

This concert is generously sponsored by Stephen E. Pickett and Elizabeth Matthias.
